They all have F, N, R now I would personally tell one of my hunting buddies to get his own boat. These motors don't carry weight nearly as well as an outboard. Re: best motor The 23 LT and smaller are legal in more places like the WMA's - so that is likely to be the best and most economical way to go Re: best motor narrowed it down to the 16 go devil or the 23 mud buddy.
Re: best motor out of the three you listed, , but I would go a foot or two longer. Re: best motor price for one. Re: best motor Get the Re: best motor i got a 23 hp mudbuddy an i love it it pushes my 16 48 like a charm and will go anywhere u could want.
Re: best motor I have a 23 LA Special on a and runs fine. Re: best motor will the mini 23 run similar to the longtail? Re: best motor Well I know when takin off in thick matted grass so thick its solid on top of the water to the point you can almost walk on it, a balanced frame like a longtail or a mini sucks because you have to pull up on the tiller hard to get it to break through it to get to the water. Because duck season has to end sometime.
Built to push a boat through mud as thick as Cajun gumbo, Pro Drive's hp surface-drive is as reliable as it is powerful. It also comes with hydraulic trim, stainless prop, instant forward and neutral, and optional auto-reverse. Freedom couples the durability and versatility of a mud motor with the power and reliability of an outboard. Available in and hp, they have a closed-loop cooling system, allowing the motor to run in shallow water and mud.
They also feature a custom jack plate and a free-float and reverse locking system. Yeah, it's a beast. Boss Drives' hp is one of the largest manufacturer-made mud motors out there. It not only hauls butt, it's loaded with features like a hydraulic trim, stainless prop, rapid-shift forward, neutral and reverse and twin trim controls.
The drive train uses gears instead of belts and it is remote hydraulic steer capable. Give a Gift Subscriber Services. See All Other Magazines. See All Special Interest Magazines. In slightly deeper water, surface-drive motors develop more power and speed, making their top speed as much as mph higher than a long-tail motor.
The shorter driveshaft doesn't offer quite as much reach during the most rugged conditions. Some say that surface-drive motors are more likely to get stuck in the mud, and because of their design, they offer less leverage for getting out of those situations. For the season, Beavertail has announced the release of the new Mag Torque surface drive motors. These motors are the latest innovation from the team at Beavertail. You may wonder what makes the Mag Torque motor different from other surface drives?
Let me start with the weight. Beavertail put the Mag Torque surface drive on a diet shaving 75 pounds. This means less weight in the boat, about the equivalent of a full tank of gas and the battery, specifically less weight on the transom allowing your boat to run shallower and faster.
They started with an aircraft grade aluminum frame and housing. The Mag Torque Surface Drives are easy to operate with one hand, no more fighting the motors and getting a workout on your way to your hunting spot, With the CMC hydraulic trim and tilt the Mag Torque motors will dig in and get you moving.
The hydraulics are all self-contained, with a wiper for self-cleaning on the rams and a no-leak seal, making them submersible and corrosion resistant. The Mag Torque motors will deliver years of maintenance free service.
Now the Magic of the Mag Torque series is the magnetic synchronous coupling. Traditionally moving the power of the motor to the prop is done via belts and gears.
